Taiwanese containership owner Wan Hai Lines has pushed up profit in the fourth quarter as revenue rose.

Net earnings to 31 December were TWD 2.55bn ($87.65m), up from TWD 1.14bn in 2016.

Revenue rose to TWD 60.76bn against TWD 57.35bn the year before, while operating costs were higher at TWD 53.65bn compared to TWD 51.59bn.

Last month, TradeWinds reported that Wan Hai had contacted shipyards in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan over a series of 2,800-teu containership newbuildings to be delivered in 2020.
