The West of England Club is opening a branch in Singapore as a battle to be the marine insurance hub for Asia intensifies.

Nine of the 13 International Group protection-and-indemnity (P&I) clubs will have offices in Singapore from next week but Hong Kong is hanging on to its role as the traditional centre for Asia, with 12 of the clubs in business there.
