Has bribery become less of an issue and slipped as a concern of the protection-and-indemnity (P&I) clubs?

The answer is no, but bribery certainly features significantly less prominently in the new edition of Guidelines for Correspondents issued by the 13 International Group P&I clubs.

A section on bribery is cut from 616 words in the 2015 edition to a succinct 54 in the new version, although it remains clear that the P&I clubs have strict anti-bribery policies that equally apply to inducements dressed up as facilitation payments or other forms of financial crime.
