The long-running trial of former Beluga Shipping managing director Niels Stolberg is entering its final straight.

Prosecutors have demanded four to five years' imprisonment for the former boss of the failed Bremen-based multipurpose (MPP) operator.

But Stolberg’s lawyers are seeking a probationary sentence, according to Bremen court sources.

Stolberg’s trial resumed on 21 June, nearly 18 months after proceedings began in January 2016.
