The master of the tanker Prestige has won a US court ruling that could help him overturn a criminal conviction in Spain for his part in the 2002 oil spill.
Only days shy of the environmental disaster’s 15th anniversary, Apostolos Mangouras, 82, persuaded a US district judge in New York to allow him access to legal documents that he claims could help vindicate him.
