A blaze on a car carrier has been brought under control at Antwerp in Belgium.

Tugs helped tackle the fire that broke out on a vehicle deck of the 4,049-ceu Silver Sky (built 1989) overnight.

Smoke was seen rising from the ship, which is operated by Sallaum Lines of the UAE.

All 24 crew were safely evacuated from the carrier.

Cars on board were intended for export to Africa.
