Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) may be the sole bidder for collapsed rival Hanjin Shipping’s Asia-US boxship business.
The Yonhap news agency cited industry sources as saying the Korean owner may be the only company to lodge a preliminary offer to the Seoul bankruptcy court by the 7 November deadline.
A group including other Korean owners like Heung-A, KMTC and Sinokor had been rumoured to be considering a bid, in an attempt to diversify their operations.
