Denmark’s Maersk group still has the financial muscle to pursue other acquisitions, following its takeover of Hamburg Sud.
Its purchase of the Oetker boxship owner is estimated to have cost between $2.2bn and $2.7bn, according to Fearnley Securities, with VesselsValue putting the fleet value at $1.4bn.
Fearnley based its prediction on the company's book value, with other analysts going as high as $5bn.
