Maersk Line has reportedly fixed two Hammonia Reederei-controlled 4,900-teu ‘wide-beam’ container vessels on long term charters

Alphaliner described the charter of the 4,896-teu Hammonia America and Hammonia Virginia (built 2014) as a market hedging move.

The Chinese-built containerships are said to have been fixed for periods of four years, at a reported rate of $10,000 per day.

“This is substantially more than the $6,500 that such tonnage gets today for short to medium term employments, but it could prove to be a bargain for the Danish carrier, should the charter market recover for this tonnage,” Alphaliner said.
