Gianluigi Aponte’s Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) is looking to buy a slice of Italian conro operation Ignazio Messina & Co.
Talks took place last week in Messina’s hometown of Genoa, Italy, between executives of the two shipping companies and senior management from Italian banking partners.
Italian sources suggest that up to 49% of the family-owned company — which trades as Linea Messina — could be acquired by the Aponte group through a capital-raising programme.
