The liner shipping industry will be consolidated within a few years into six to eight lines employing between 50,000 and 100,000 fewer people.
But ongoing digitalisation and automation will make it harder to differentiate between liner services in what will become a commoditised industry.
The claims are made by Danish container shipping guru Lars Jensen in his book “Liner Shipping 2025 — How to survive and thrive”.
