Samudera Shipping has posted a full-year loss of $5.3m on the back of vessel impairments and weaker markets.

It made $7.3m in vessel impairments last year. However, this was down by over one-third on the impairments of $11m made in 2015.

The Indonesian shipowner saw revenue decline 18% to $260.5m, while operating costs fell by 15.3% to $245.8m.

“This was due to lower revenue generated from both the container shipping and bulk and tanker business segments,” it said.
