CMA CGM is hoping to improve volumes on the Europe to Indian sub-continent, Gulf and Red Sea trades with a late booking cancellation fee.
It says it has been facing a large amount of shortfalls in the past few weeks due to late booking cancellations, which it says prevent it from accepting bookings on behalf of other customers.
The fee of $150 per teu, excluding reefers, will be introduced on routes from North Europe to the Red Sea, Middle East, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka from 1 June 2017.
