Maersk Line has quietly taken a pair of sub-panamax boxships under construction in China on long-term charter with a purchase option.
The Danish operator has emerged as the end user of the 2,700-teu vessels being built for Nissen Kaiun with the support of Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co.
The ships were ordered at Tsuneishi Zhoushan Shipbuilding at the end of 2015.
