Japan's MOL is expecting better earnings in its current financial year after posting stronger first quarter figures.

The giant shipowner said net profit was JPY 6.74bn ($58.49m) to 30 June, from JPY 2.55bn a year ago.

Revenue rose to JPY 403bn against JPY 360bn over the same period.

Bulkers turned in earnings of JPY 4.8bn from JYP 1.5bn in 2016.
