A signing ceremony has taken place in Marseille for CMA CGM's nine 22,000-teu boxship newbuildings.
The shipowner finally confirmed that China's CSSC will build the vessels.
Its Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding yards will carry out the work.
The vessels are the largest container units yet ordered.
CMA CGM confirmed the orders on Monday, but did not reveal a shipbuilder.
