DSME has broken a boxship order drought stretching back over two years as Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) responded to CMA CGM’s latest mega-ship move.

Seoul-listed DSME announced today it had won a series of five container vessels worth KRW 926.6bn ($817m) which will slide down the slipway by March 2020.

While European owner was not disclosed, TradeWinds reported in August MSC was set to split an order for 11 22,000-teu ships between DSME and Samsung Heavy Industries.
