Matson chief executive Matthew Cox says the domestic shipping industry adds $100bn to the US economy. And US cabotage laws help underpin that contribution.
Cox was addressing the TradeWinds Jones Act shipping forum in Washington DC. The act has long been cited for driving up freight costs for shipping goods between US ports due to higher costs for US crews and US-built ships.
