The first attempt to refloat the grounded Lomar Shipping boxship Kea Trader has failed.
The shipowner confirmed to TradeWinds that the 2,194-teu newbuilding remains hard aground on a reef off New Caledonia in the Pacific.
Radio New Zealand had reported that weather conditions were deemed good enough to make the attempt on Monday.
Four tugs were involved in the operation.
