Hamburg Sud plans to cut one-tenth of its workforce in Germany as part of its pending takeover by Maersk Line.

Some 131 out of a total of 1,015 permanent positions in Germany will go, with only 19 new roles created.

The job cuts were unveiled late last week in a meeting between employees and top management designed to unveil the business model of Hamburg Sud after the anticipated closure of the deal with Maersk Line later this year.
