Pacific International Lines (PIL) is the latest carrier to start replacing large chartered tonnage with its own newbuildings.

The Singapore operator has allocated its first of a dozen neo-panamax newbuildings to a transpacific service operated together with Cosco Shipping and Wan Hai Lines.

The 11,900-teu Kota Pahlawan and Kota Panjang (both built 2017) will serve on the Asia-to-US service, which rotates between Long Beach and China.
