Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen is predicting more boxship mergers this year.
He said more consolidation will happen in the industry as demand grows, according to Reuters.
Hapag-Lloyd has combined with CSAV and UASC in recent years. Jansen said: “Some nine of formerly 20 companies will have disappeared by the end of 2018.”
He said his own company could achieve 85% to 90% of planned annual savings from the UASC deal this year, and 100% in 2019.
