The rising charter market has led a leading Greek owner to finally take a boxship out of lay-up after more than two years.

The 5,086-teu Sofia I (built 2010) has been taken by liner operator Zim for 10 to 13 months at about $12,800 per day, European brokers say.

It will be delivered to the Israeli charterer in June, about 28 months since it was put into lay-up.
