Israeli container line Zim has seen losses increase in the first quarter as rates dipped and fuel prices rose.

The net deficit to 31 March was $34.1m, compared to $6.4m in the first three months of 2017.

It blamed falling rates from the fourth quarter on, plus higher fuel bills.

Revenue was $751.4m, up from $655m, as the company's fleet carried 698,000 teu, an all-time high and up 16.7%
