The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has suspended Maersk Line and CoscoCS operations for 10 days in a row over an alleged lack of holding bays for empty containers.

But Maersk said in an advisory note to customers it had four functional holding bays in Lagos with a storage capacity of 8,150 teu, the Punch daily reported.

It said: “It is misguiding for the Nigerian Ports Authority to suspend Maersk Nigeria for failing to acquire and operate holding bays for empty containers as Maersk Nigeria operates four holding bays within the Lagos environ with a storage capacity of 8,150 teu which is more than 50% of the discharge average."
