Singapore-flagged ships that adopt approved systemsthat exceed IMO’s emission requirements are set to enjoy a 25% reduction oftheir initial registration fee plus a 20% rebate on their annual tonnage tax.

For those ships adopting both energy efficient shipdesigns and scrubbers that exceed IMO requirements the reductions are 75% and50% respectively.

The new incentives were unveiled bylocalMinisterfor Transport Lui Tuck Yew and are part of the country’s SGD100m ($80m) Maritime Singapore Green Initiative.
