The New York-listed operator says the 3,600-teu units will cost around $418m in total, which is slightly higher than an estimate issued earlier this year when it first announced plans to place an order for ships of around 2,600-teu.

In a statement the Honolulu-headquartered carrier said the vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel engines, state-of-the-art ballast water treatment systems and a variety of other “green ship technologies” designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
