Panama Canal Administrator Jorge Quijano has told localmedia that Grupos Unidos por el Canal (GUPC) submitted a letter declaringits intent to file the unspecified claim.

Construction workers across Panama have been on strike fortwo weeks, paralysing expansion of the canal for the second time this year. TheConstruction Workers Union isseeking pay rises from the Panamanian Chamber of Construction.

“GUPC would like to reiterate this inactivityis out of their control and responsibility,” the consortium said in a statementprovided to TradeWinds.
