The new five year extension, which came into force at the start of July, supersedes a 2013 three-year extension.

The deal, which also includes three one-year options, will see Carnival homeport at least two ships of equal or greater size than the Dream or Fantasy Class ships at the port.

“This is a clear demonstration of Carnival’s belief in New Orleans as one of its top home ports,” said Port of New Orleans chief executive Gary LaGrange.
