The move was made to respond to growing demand from heavy machinery manufacturers.
The first shipment arrived on Wednesday at Port of Tyne, but the call is still not a regular one.
WWL said future stops are a “possibility.”
The port “may easily be added to the existing WWL Asia to Europe service should continued demand be realised,” it said.
