The Estonian company said it transported 2.56m people between July and September.

Passenger vehicles also fell, by almost 4% to 354,302 units, while trucks and trailers increased by 1% to 76,830 units year-on-year.

But in September, Tallink carried 593,064 passengers, up nearly 11% from a year ago.

Passenger vehicles decreased more than 5% to 84,707, however, but trucks and trailers rose more than 1% to 27,885 units.
