The containership owner said the move was part of the shake-up that has seen finance and insurance specialist Aharon Fogel, 67, confirmed as executive chairman from Monday.
Jacobs will replace director Nir Epstein for a term running until 15 July, 2017.
Since leaving Singapore’s NOL, Jacobs has worked as a consultant at Erck Rickmers and served as a director with Stena.
He has recently been representing industry group Danish Maritime Days.
