Crowley Maritime Corporation and Seaboard Marine have struck a vessel-sharing agreement (VSA) from mid-November.
They will provide a weekly service on a larger ship travelling directly between Port Everglades in Florida and Rio Haina.
The two companies said the operation will be more efficient and reduce carbon emissions.
They have also simplified an existing VSA to Costa Rica and Panama, calling only at Miami.
