The National Retail Federation (NRF) says imports at the nation’s major container terminals are likely to see a “final surge” prior to the holidays.

Import volumes are expected to total 1.53mteu this month, just topping the record 1.52mteu seen in August.

“Increasing congestion at the nation’s ports as well as the ongoing West Coast labour negotiations are ongoing concerns and retailers are making one last push to make sure they’re stocked up for the holidays,” NRF spokesman Jonathan Gold said.
