The shipowner’s participation in the SF1 (South Africa Express 1 Central) and SF2 (South Africa Express 2 South) loops starts this week, it said.
SF1 and SF2 are currently operated by Evergreen, Cosco, PIL, K Line and MOL, covering South Africa, South East Asia and the Far East.
The service uses 15 4,000-teu to 4,500-teu ships.
Hanjin said transit time is 24 days and 28 days from Shanghai to Durban and from Kaohsiung to Cape Town respectively.
