Singapore-listed NOL recorded a loss of $23m for the three months to the close of September against a gain of $20m at the same stage in 2013.

It took Singapore’s flagship carrier to a deficit of $175m in the opening nine months of this year, a swing from a $61m profit a year ago.

However, that number was inflated by a $200m gain from the sale of its main office building.
