Total volumes for October 2014 were 715,682-teu, the largest container port in the Americas said in a statement released late Monday.
Container imports increased 7.2% to 370,938-teu, while exports declined 6.7% to 158,181-teu. Empties were up 11.2% to 152,082-teu.
“US exports have declined in 2014 due to weaker demand abroad and a stronger US dollar, which makes US goods more expensive,” the port said.
