According to a statement from the National Crime Agency (NCA), the drugs carried on the 17,500-cbm Star Stratos (built 2007) from Colombia were of a likely UK street value of £40m ($62.6m).
Clarksons’ database lists Nissen Kaiun as the owner of the vessel.
But a spokesperson from the Japanese owner told TradeWinds it does not own Star Stratos.
According to data from the Equasis database, the reefer is owned by Singapore’s Grace Ocean, which has a fleet of three bulkers, according to Clarksons.
