The Tasmanian government has approved a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the two ro-paxes during winter 2015.
Fares will be slashed by 15% over the next four years for the state-owned ships run by TT-Line.
Infrastructure minister Rene Hidding said: "An additional 42 extra day sailings will be scheduled each year by 2018 and will also mean a significant increase in space for caravans, boat-trailers and 'grey nomad' tourists."
