Container demolition will barely reach 400,000 teu in 2014, way down on forecasts of 500,000 teu forecast at the beginning of the year, according to Alphaliner.
That puts the tally way down on the all-time record of 442,000 teu scrapped in 2013.
Most of the containership tonnage was scrapped in the first half of the year when 290,000 teu went to demolition.
