Susumu Tanaka is the third such individual to face imprisonment along with two employees from rival Japanese shipowner K Line.
He pleaded guilty to fix prices, allocate customers and rig bids of international ocean shipping services for ro-ro cargo to and from the US, the Department of Justice said.
