The Greek owner bought the 5,500-teu YM New Jersey and YM Los Angeles (both built 2006) for $21.5m each.
Both vessels will be chartered to Yang Ming at a rate of $21,000 per day in contracts running until late 2016 or early 2017.
A memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties carries extension options for a further 22 to 26 months at the same rate.
