The Mumbai-listed coastal operator said it wanted vessels ranging in size from 1,700 teu to 2,500 teu.
Its board has approved purchases within the next 18 months to two years.
The company will reveal further details when investments are finalised.
It has built its fleet to seven boxships in recent years.
