The owner has penned the 3,600-teu feedership series at Cosco in China, its first confirmed newbuilding order since booking the triple-e series in 2011.
The deal, first uncovered by TradeWinds early last month, marks the yard's debut in the boxship market.
In its official announcement today, Maersk said it had agreed with Cosco to keep the price confidential.
TradeWinds has previously reported that an attractive price of $39m per vessel was the main reason why the Danish owner chose the Cosco yard for this project.
