The agency released a report today explaining that, though 131 cruiseships and 137 terminals would be impacted by the proposed regulations, it would lead to less than $155,000 in costs.

“The benefits of the rulemaking include the codification of guidelines for qualifications for screeners, more uniform reporting of screening procedures across cruise lines via the TSP [terminal screening programme], improved industry accountability regarding security procedures, and greater clarity and efficiency due to the removal of redundant regulations,” the agency said.
