It believes that NOL’s majority shareholder, Singapore government-backed Temasek, may not want to dispose of its 67% stake just yet.
With NOL shares trading at around SGD 1 (74 US cents) each the sovereign wealth fund could stand to make a loss on any sale.
In 2004 Temasek paid SGD 2.80 per share to increase its stake in the listed container line from 30% to 69%.
