The net figure was $222m to 31 May, compared to $98m in the same period of 2014.

Its 100 ships brought in revenue of $3.59bn against $3.63bn the year before.

But total costs fell faster to to $3.3bn from $3.48bn.

Net revenue yields rose 4.1%, better than its guidance of between 2% and 3%.

Costs excluding fuel increased 6.1%, mainly due to an increase in drydock days.
