The Port of Los Angeles said it has seen its busiest start to the year in its 109-year history.

The largest container terminal in the Americas reported a 33% year-on-year increase in January volumes to 704,398-teu.

“Record January volumes are a very encouraging way to start 2016, particularly after the slow start that West Coast ports experienced last year,” said Port of Los Angeles executive director Gene Seroka.
