Analyst Alphaliner has revealed a potential new alliance of giant boxship owners CMA CGM and China Cosco.
The pair are said to be stepping up efforts to set up a partnership, with knock-on effects for other alliances of containership owners.
Taiwan’s Evergreen and Hong Kong player OOCL could also be lured into the new venture – reportedly dubbed CCEO - placing a question mark over the future of CMA CGM’s Ocean Three tie-up with China Shipping Group’s CSCL and Kuwait-based UASC.
