A China Cosco boxship won the lottery for the first transit through the expanded Panama Canal during its 26 June inauguration.

But the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) said it would only open the new locks to four ships per day until it determines how well the new locks perform.

The 9,400-teu Andronikos (built 2016) will make the first transit through the new locks.
